My girls love to help me cook in the kitchen. They climb up on the stools at our kitchen island and they want to do whatever they can to help. Sometimes it’s a challenge for me because usually when they help, the kitchen gets a lot messier. But, I’ve found that when I relax and let them assist me then we really have a lot of fun.

The other night I made this yummy Salisbury Steak recipe with fresh corn, homemade biscuits and fried green beans and squash from the garden. I know that frying the vegetables isn’t the healthiest but they are absolutely delicious. I loved the fried green beans, it was my first time frying them and they were great.

Love my Rachael Ray Turners! (0)

We especially love Rachael Ray’s orange spatulas (but you can also get them in blue or green) at our house. They don’t scratch my nonstick skillets and are great to flip eggs or to saute onions and garlic. They are heat resistant to 400 degrees but I do have to remind myself not to rest them on the edge of the pan so they don’t melt like all my other spaulas have! I use them practically every night when I cook dinner.

My whole family loves this shepherd’s pie recipe. But what’s not to love about ground beef, gravy and mashed potatoes, true comfort food. The original recipe came from Rachel Ray but we’ve changed it slightly to the way we like it.
