Yummy Salisbury Steak Dinner
The other night I made this yummy Salisbury Steak recipe with fresh corn, homemade biscuits and fried green beans and squash from the garden. I know that frying the vegetables isn’t the healthiest but they are absolutely delicious. I loved the fried green beans, it was my first time frying them and they were great.
Salisbury Steak Recipe
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 (10 oz) can cream of mushroom soup, divided
- 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup diced onions
- 1 tsp each salt and pepper
- 1 T oil
- 1 T butter
- 1/4 cup sliced onions (or mushrooms) for the gravy
- 2 cups beef broth (I use boullion dissolved in water)
- 2-3 T flour
Mix together beef, 1/4 can soup, bread crumbs, egg, diced onions, salt and pepper. Shape into 5 to 6 oval patties.
Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown patties on both sides and transfer to a plate.
Add 1 T butter to pan and saute onions (or mushrooms) until soft. Add flour and cook for a minute or so. Whisk in beef broth until combined. Stir in remaining mushroom soup.
Return patties to skillet and spoon gravy over top. Cover pan and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve gravy over meat and homemade biscuits. Yum!
